چکیده

Left ventricular pressure and segment length were measured in seven conscious chronically instrumented dogs with the pericardium intact and 3-9 days after pericardiectomy. Diastolic pressure-length plots were obtained under control conditions and after acute volume loading followed by sodium nitroprusside infusion. In all dogs with intact pericardium, volume loading displaced the entire diastolic pressure-length curve upwards and sodium nitroprusside shifted it toward control. After pericardiectomy the pressure-segment length data during control, volume loading and

Influence of cardiac sympathetic and vagal nerve stimulation on the relation between left ventricular diastolic pressure and myocardial segment length.

THAT THE catechol amines or cardiac sympathetic nerve stimulation will increase the vigor of ventricular contraction has been established." Further, it is now known that the ventricle will contract more forcefully from any given filling pressure under these influences." The early studies of Anrep and other more recent studies" indicate that a changed myocardial extensibility cannot, of itself, ...

Left ventricular diastolic pressure-segment length relations and end-diastolic distensibility in dogs with coronary stenoses. An angina physiology model.

Isovolumic relaxation abnormalities have been noted in the ischemic left ventricle, but altered end-diastolic distensibility, as well as the role of right ventricular distention, is debated. Accordingly, left ventricular end-diastolic pressure and myocardial segment length were studied in the open-chest dogs with critical (90% diameter reduction) stenoses on both left anterior descending and ci...

Effects of graded reductions in coronary perfusion pressure on the diastolic pressure-segment length relation and the rate of isovolumic relaxation in the resting conscious dog.

To assess the relations between coronary perfusion pressure, blood flow, and the diastolic pressure-segment length relation in the conscious animal, circumflex pressure was incrementally decreased in 10 resting, chronically instrumented dogs by a hydraulic occluding cuff while monitoring left ventricular pressure and regional segment length (with piezoelectric crystals) in the circumflex and le...

Optimal right ventricular filling pressures and the role of pericardial constraint in right ventricular infarction in dogs.

BACKGROUND Previous studies have reported an important role for right ventricular function in the pathophysiology of the low cardiac output state that can accompany right ventricular infarction. Some studies have suggested that right ventricular distensibility impairs right ventricular filling and stroke output; others have demonstrated that the pericardium can mediate depressed left ventricula...
